Brand Nizzle!!
It's been another busy week in my life.
Gig-wise I saw Brand New play Manchester Academy on Tuesday night in sweltering heat. Living in Manchester it's rare that I ever write those words and with the exception of a NIN gig a few July's back us mancunian gig-goers are normally immune to such concerns at concerts...
...but Tuesday night was certainly energy-sapping, not what I expected from a bunch of morrisey-worshipping shoe-gazers like Brand New anyway lol.
I do love the band though and although they only knocked out a couple of songs from Your Favorite Weapon they put on a pretty decent show, frontman Jesse Lacey even came up with some between-song banter and was dressed in a simple unbuttoned shirt, not the usual hood-over-the eyes look that he rocked when last in town.
Thanks to the warm June weather and lack of venue AC (the academy has gone green and can't be arsed cooling the punters or 1000 giraffes will die on the plains of africa!) I left happy, unable to breathe and drenched in sweat - even my hands were soaking wet!
The rest of the week was spent trying to sort out payment for my villa rental in Valencia this August. Me, my bro Mikey and 3 other blokes are heading over to Spain to watch the F1 Grand Prix and enjoy a week in a Villa near Gandia in the mountains! 40 degrees, beach and pool, beers, barbie and motor racing...cannot wait!
This weekend I am heading to London to visit my buddy Si and see the mighty AC/DC rock Wembley stadium on 26th June. I've heard that Thin Lizzy were down to support but had to drop out last minute so probably won't get down there until 7ish. They were great at Manchester Arena a few months back, hopefully in the outdoor stadium they will rock our socks off and maybe even have some big pyro / fireworks.
